2011 Annual Meeting

Thank you to whoever ordered the beautiful sunny Saturday that was the perfect setting for our annual meeting of members on May 21. The break in the weather is just what we needed to bring members out to the fairgrounds for unlimited pancakes, great conversations as well as provide educational opportunities.

Members visited the CEC booths to learn about the many programs that the cooperative has to offer including Co-op Connections®, The People Fund, water heater, Dual Fuel and geothermal rebates, Cooperative Owners for Political Action® (COPA) and EnviroWatts®.

Roger Keller, CEC energy advisor, was on-hand to answer any questions that members had about how to save money on their electric bill by being energy effi cient. Keller discussed ways to seal your home to reduce air infi ltration, the benefi ts of switching from incandescent lights to compact fl uorescent bulbs, and discussed how much more efficient geothermal heating systems are in comparison to conventional heating.

Doug Payauys, VP of information systems, was available to update members on the current fiber optic Internet project. Members showed interest in the project and expressed valid questions and concerns.
During the business meeting,

Tom Myser, outgoing trustee for District 6, spoke to members with great gratitude and pride about his
experiences while serving the membership for 20 years. Results of the trustee election for districts 4, 5 and 6 were announced. Phillip Edwards was re-elected as trustee for District 4, Larry Roof was reelected as trustee for District 5 and Bill Sterritt was elected to serve as trustee for District 6.

The cooperative welcomed guest speaker Pat O'Loughlin, VP of engineering of Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives and Buckeye Power, to address the members regarding climate change and the economy, and their affect on the cooperative's electric rates.
